What are the advantages of the Online Edition over the book?

The Online Edition can be accessed by multiple Users any time, any where.
Terms can be searched quickly using any word or phrase and any cross reference in a definition can be quickly retrieved (see Searching in the help menu).
The Advanced Search enables the User to find any word or phrase in the Encyclopedia (including cases, statutes, bibliographical references and any combination that appears in the Encyclopedia, e.g. market value and USPAP; estoppel and Thorner v Major; or condominium, commonhold and strata title).
Easily link to many other web sites for more information (including USPAP and the RICS Red Book).
Updates will be posted on a regular basis.

How do I use the Free Trial?

Click on Register here for a FREE Trial at the bottom of the Home Page.

Then complete the form. Upon completion of the form you will be asked to review the details and then submit these. Please keep a note of these details.

Shortly thereafter you should receive an email at the address you provided. This email will state "Your Registration for the Encyclopedia of Real Estate Terms Online Trial needs to be activated".

Please click on the link in the email (or copy this to your browser) and you will be directed to the page headed "Free Trial has been activated".

You will then be able to login to the site using your User Name and Password (a separate email will be sent with those details).
The first time you login you will be asked to complete a short form to confirm the computer you are using. This is because use is only available from one computer at a time and you will be asked for the same information if you change to another computer.

Please note: your security First Name, Last Name, Security Question and email address are personal and can only be used by the person who subscribed (see Terms and Conditions) for more information.

You can check or change you login details at any time after you login by going to the 'Profile' tab at the top of the Terms page.

How do I subscribe?

View the Subscription Prices and decide on the number of Users that are likely to need access to the Encyclopedia.

Then, based on the appropriate number of Users, select the Currency in which you would like to pay. You will be given the option to pay by a secure facility (if you wish to pay by an alternative means, please use the subscription query form on that page).

Upon completion of the payment, an email will be sent for you to activate the subscription and then you will receive confirmation of your login details.

That is all. The site is ready for you to use for the subscription period. You will be sent a reminder before the subscription expires.

You can check or change you login details at any time after you login by going to the 'Profile' tab at the top of the Terms page.

How may I terminate the License?

The License Agreement may only be terminated at the end of the twelve month period (unless terminated by the Licensor in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement - see Terms & Conditions).

What can I find on this site that I cannot find elsewhere on the internet?

Thousands of terms used in real estate (and related subjects) defined and explained in detail, well researched, and supported by authoritative reference material.
An easy way to compare and contrast terms using the multiple cross references that are a provided when looking at a term.
A quick way to carry out more research. Simply find the citation or bibliographic reference that is directly relevant to the issue referred to in the definition.
A means to send a question directly to the author if there is any doubt about the veracity of the entry.
No other site offers such detailed material in one place at such a reasonable price.

With which internet browser does the Online Encyclopedia work?

The Encyclopedia should work with all popular browsers. It has been developed for use with Explorer 7.0 or above, Firefox 3.0 or above

Is there any limit on the time that the site may be accessed?

No, a Registered User may access the site at any time for an unlimited period of time (unless the service is interrupted or suspended by a technical problem outside the control of the Licensor). In the event of a change of computer (e.g. desktop to laptop) you will be required to authenticate the new computer and a user may only access the site from one computer at any one time — see Terms & Conditions.

How often will the Encyclopedia be updated?

The Encyclopedia is not intended to provide up to the minute information. However, updates will be added on a regular basis, including new terms as they arise, important cases and legislative changes, etc. as soon as practicable. Can I make copies of the text?

Yes, but limitations may be placed on the amount of information that can be downloaded at any time. All material on the site is subject to the copyright of Delta Alpha Publishing and any reproduced material must include the designation:

What is the best method of finding additional materials referred to in the Encyclopedia?

Cases, Codes & Legislation - If you do not subscribe to an online legislative service, a number of sources of cases and legislation are provided under Links.

Bibliographical References Many of the entries have multiple references. This enables the User to find additional material in one or more of the sources that may be to hand. A full list of the books can be found from the tab Bibliography.

How do I note any errors, omissions or changes that should be made to the text?
